We are pleased to announce the Fall 1995 Midwest PDE seminar, organized by E. DiBenedetto, G.-Q. Chen and T. Ilmanen.
Accommodation. A block of rooms for November 3 and/or 4 has been set aside at the Northshore Holiday Inn, 5300 Touhy Avenue, Skokie, (708) 679-8900. Rooms are $85 per night. It is advisable to reserve immediately, because hotel space will be tight. The block will be released on October 20. When making a reservation, please indicate that the rooms have been set aside by Ms. Melanie Rubin, secretary of the Department of Mathematics of Northwestern University.
An alternative is the Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, 2122 Sheridan Road, Evanston, (708) 328-9300. Single rooms only; $40 per night. To make a reservation, contact Ms\. Melanie Rubin at (708) 491-8035, melanie@math.nwu.edu. Indicate your arrival time; if it is later than 4pm on Friday, November 3, it will be necessary to arrange for key pickup.

To Northshore Holiday Inn from I-294 (Tri-State Tollway): I-294 is a few miles west of I-90. Exit at Touhy Avenue going east. After 3 miles you will see the hotel on your left.
To Northshore Holiday Inn from O'Hare: At the baggage claim level, find Airport Express Continental Air Transport, (800) 654-7871. They depart every 10-15 minutes; the cost is $15.50. Alternately, call Norshore Cab, (708) 864-7500; the cost is $20.
To Seabury-Western: Follow the directions to Lunt hall, below. Seabury-Western Theological Seminary is 1 1/2 blocks north of Lunt Hall, just past Garrett Street on the west side of Sheridan Road. The address is 2122 Sheridan Road, Evanston, (708) 328-9300.
To Lunt Hall from Northshore Holiday Inn: It takes at most 25 minutes. Drive four blocks east on Touhy Ave to I-94. Take I-94 north and follow the directions below.
To Lunt Hall from Interstate 94 or 294: Take the Dempster Street exit east (it is just north of the Touhy exit). Drive 4 miles east on Dempster Street (measuring from I-94) until you pass under the elevated. Turn left on Chicago Avenue and drive north about 7 blocks. Chicago Avenue becomes (joins) Sheridan Road just as the Northwestern campus appears on your right. After another 3 blocks you will see Lunt Hall on your right. Lunt Hall is north of Kellogg business school, south of a parking lot, and across from Library Place; it does not conform to the usual rectilinear grid. You may park in the parking lot north of Lunt if you can find a space (beware of reserved spaces).
To Siam Square: Saturday dinner will be at 6:15 at Siam Square, 622 Davis Street, Evanston, about 15 minutes by foot, 475-0860. To arrive there, go south on Sheridan Road. When you reach the end of campus, Sheridan becomes Chicago Avenue. Continue south another 3 blocks to Davis Street and turn right. The restaurant is 1/2 block on your left.
To the Friedlander's: You are cordially invited to an after-dinner party at the home of Eric and Susan Friedlander at 8pm, 763 Michigan Avenue, Wilmette, (708) 251 7954. It is just north of Evanston, 30 minutes by foot or five by car. Drive north on Sheridan from Lunt Hall. After passing the campus, Sheridan will turn left. After a few blocks it will turn right again. Proceed north on Sheridan past the big white Bahai temple and over a bridge. Then fork right onto Michigan Avenue. The Friedlander's home is four or five houses up on your left (there is a park on your right).
