Calculus II Professor Libgober Fall
TEXT AND COURSE DESCRIPTION:
- J.Stewart, Calculus, 2nd edition, Brooks/Cole (1991).
This course covers most of the
chapters 7-10, App. F
and parts of the chapters 5 and 6 which were not covered
in Math 180. This includes techniques of integration, applications of
integration, differential geometry of curves, series and introduction
into complex numbers.
- Homework assignments all consist of
selected exercises at the end of the sections and are given
in the separate handout.
- Occasionally during the lecture or discussion class a quiz may be given
on the material of preceeding week.
- In this section you are required to have a calculator TI 81 (or
higher version) which has a graphing capability. It will be used
as part of the instruction and will be useful to do
homework assignments.
OFFICE HOURS:
- Monday,Wednesday, Friday; 3-4 p.m. or other times
by appointment.

GRADING:
- Exam questions will be in the same spirit as the homework problems.
- There will be four one hour exams (midterms) on the following dates:
September 8, October 6, October 30, Nov 20.
- The final exam, covering the whole
course,
will be given during the week of finals.
- No makeup midterms will be
given but the lowest grade on midterms will be dropped in determining
the final grade.
- Midterms, grades on quizes,
and the finals roughly contribute
15%, 15%, 15% ,5%, and 50% toward the course grade subject to the
following provision: the course grade can be higher than
the grade on the final exam, but by at most one point.
