Text: The
Practice
of Statistics in the Life Sciences (3rd Edition) by Baldi and Moore. You only need
the online version that comes with the purchase of Launchpad.
How to enroll in Launchpad:
Go to http://www.macmillanhighered.com/launchpad/psls3e/7240045
Enroll in this course using one of the following options:
If you have an access code, select "I have a student access
code",
enter the code exactly as it appears on the card, and click
Submit.
If you don't have an access code, either purchase a text package
that
includes one OR click "I want to purchase access" and follow the
instructions.
If you need to start working but can't purchase right away,
select "I
want temporary access" and follow the instructions. Please note:
Your
grades are linked to your Launchpad account username (email
address). If you
use temporary access, make sure you purchase or register your code
using the
same email address for your paid access.

Attendance:
It is your responsibility to attend all lectures and
lab sessions
and sign the attendance sheets. We will use only the attendance
sheets as proof
that you have attended.
Attendance recording starts from Week 3 after the add/drops.
Absences will be recorded on Blackboard on a regular basis.
If you have a dispute about your attendance, you must bring it to
the
attention of your instructor (for lectures) or your TA (for labs)
by the end of
the following week.
Homework: Homework
will
be assigned for each section covered.
The homework will be worth 50 points.
Homework will be done through launch pad, you can do it
anywhere you
have access to a computer (your own laptop, computer labs,
library, etc.)
before the due date. Watch for the due time. Do your homework
before the due
date, the website may not work on the night the homework is due!
The lowest 3
homework scores will be dropped. There is no limit on the number
of try on
homework. Only the best score will be saved. Note: During the
semester, your
homework scores are based on how many problems you completed
correctly, this is
not your final homework score which is scaled to 50 maximum.
Quizzes: Quizzes
are also assigned through LaunchPad, during lab time.
The quizzes
will be worth 40 points.There are time limit to the duration of
the quizzes and
you are allowed two tries. The lowest 3 quiz scores will be
dropped from your
average. There will be no make-up quizzes, so attend the labs.
If for
any reason you miss a quiz, you use one of the three lowest drop
chances.
Projects and Lab:
There will be two Excel based projects during the course
based on
methods learned in Lab. The
projects
will be worth 10 points.
