This is the firstd basic undergraduate abstract algebra course. The course is designed to cover the basic topics in algebra. In this course, we'll explore basic objects in abstract algebra such as groups, rings and fields.

Office hours: W 10-11, F 2-3 and by appointment (SEO 405).
Requirements: There will be weekly homework,count two midterm
examinations and a final examination. The homework will count for 20% of
your grade and each midterm will count for 20% of your grade. The final
will count for 40% of your grade. Homework will be due on Wednesday. You
may collaborate on the homework problems, but you must write your own
solutions. The first midterm will be on October 9 (Wednesday).
The second midterm will be on Nov 15 (Friday).
