Text: Intro Stats by De Veaux, Velleman and Bock, 3rd ed. (Pearson).

 

This course is based on traditional lectures and labs, but in addition there is online work that you will have to do on your own.

 

The online part of the course will be done on MyStatLab (Pearson) through www.coursecompass.com. All homeworks and quizzes will be done online. You will have to register with MyStatLab for access to the website for this course. Registration information was emailed to you – please register ASAP. Each homework and quiz may be attempted as many times as you wish within the start and end date. You may work at your own pace, irrespective of the class pace.

 

In lectures we will cover the basic concepts in each chapter and some examples. It is recommended that you read the entire chapter including examples before class. Video lectures, exercises and other materials are available to you in MyStatLab. You should make full use of these resources. In each lecture and lab, there will be time dedicated to discussion and answering questions.

 

 

Grade components (tentative):

Homework – 7%

Quizzes – 25%

Excel projects – 13%

Midterm – 20%

Final – 35%

 

Grade scale (tentative): A 90 - 100%, B 80 - 89%, C 65 - 79%, D 50 - 64%, F 0-50%.
