This is a sophomore to junior bridge activity that aims to increase the number of science, engineering, and math majors at UIC by energizing post-calculus undergraduates. These students are cast in a teaching role with some individual responsibility at a time when such students all too often feel disconnected and undirected. Approximately 10 post-calculus students are each assigned about 12 intermediate algebra students. The mentoring of these students includes grading homework and meeting them twice per week. These prospective SEM majors are closely supervised by Prof. Howard Masur.
