I just printed various files from the hc lab (routed through server services.
The files were Math 181 homework solutions from

	http://www.math.uic.edu/~lewis/m181/solutions/

.dvi - printing within a few seconds after the cover page
.pdf - printing within a few seconds after the cover page
.html (with gifs as we have posted for math 181) - over a minute of
processing time somewhere after the cover page.

My suggestion:

We immediately post all solutions without embedded \special (graphics) as
dvi with the primary link pointing to the dvi

We should include a brief explanation (see eg
	http://www.math.uic.edu/~lewis/m180/180sol.html

Other links might be created in pdf, html "gif", or using Joe Field's htmx
(I'm sorry I have not had time to test printing etc of htmx)

Pluses:

1. Fast, clean printing (but see minuses below) from math labs and cc labs
2. easy for us to create
3. get students used to tex

Minuses:
1. There is inconsistency on whether a second copy of pctex is launched
chewing up "system resources"
2. Embedded \special graphics - I doubt they are handled well or at all
3. Not viewable or printable outside the labs without a tex helper

Thanks,
Jeff
