Housing Information

THERE IS AN APRIL 15 DEADLINE TO RESERVE CAMPUS HOUSING.

Conference Housing

Housing accommodations have been reserved for conference participants at the University of Illinois at Chicago Campus Housing located in the Chicago Circle Center, on the east side of campus.

The facilities, air-conditioned residence hall rooms, range from traditional double rooms (with community bathrooms) to cluster style rooms (with three doubles and two singles sharing a bathroom). Rooms are equipped with single beds, desks and chairs but do not have telephones or internet access; pay telephones and laptop connections are available in common areas and lounge areas within the housing facility. Wheelchair-accessible rooms also are available.
Smoking is not allowed in the residence halls.

The daily room rate for single occupancy (standard linen provided) is $34.00 per night; double occupancy is $48.00 per night ($24.00 per person). Special parking rates for conference guests are $7.00/day or $15.00/week. Recreational facilities located in the campus housing facility include a bowling alley, swimming pool and weight room; the daily rate for the fitness facility is $7.00/person.

To Reserve Housing:

The deadline for reserving housing is April 15, 2003.
Payment should be received by April 24, 2003.

Sharing a Room

If you wish to save expenses by sharing a room with another ASL participant, we will try to put you in touch with a possible roommate. Contact the ASL office, preferably by email to asl@vassar.edu, if you wish to take advantage of this service. Please provide the following information: (1) your arrival and departure dates, (2) your gender, (3) whether or not you smoke (and if not, whether you would accept a roommate who does--but please note that smoking is not allowed in the residence halls), and (4) a telephone number where you can be reached to coordinate arrangements. Note that even if you have requested that we try to find you a suitable roommate, you should still make your own reservation in Chicago; later, if a roommate match is achieved, and both you and your roommate have made reservations, one of them should be cancelled.

Other Housing Options

Conference participants who do not plan to stay on campus and wish to secure hotel accommodations are strongly encouraged to make reservations immediately.
Chicago is a big tourist and convention town, and hotel accommodations can sometimes be costly and difficult to obtain. (Chicago will be the site of a large convention during the first week of June 2003.)

The closest hotel to campus is the Quality Inn Downtown One South Halsted Street, Chicago IL 60661.
