Title: The Geometry of Foliations
Abstract: Foliations occur in many areas of mathematics, and occasionally in
"real life" as well. A foliation is simply a decomposition of a space into
"uniform layers", or leaves as the name suggests in french. This talk will
make a short excursion through the geometry of foliations in low dimensions
to give an introduction to this subject. There will be lots of illustrations,
and some use of manipulatives.
