TITLE: The p-adic numbers
ABSTRACT:
In this series of two lectures I will introduce the field of
p-adic numbers and describe a very few of their applications in number
theory. This lecture falls under two different categories of talks in this
seminar: things every graduate student should know; and an introduction to
faculty research.
