University of Cincinnati    Cincinnati,   OH

Master of Arts in Teaching

This program is for certified secondary school teachers of mathematics.

For detailed information see the program's own webpage at http://math.uc.edu/grad4.html

The program has been in existence since 1979.

This degree is designed specifically for high school teachers; it is offered in the summer only. Three consecutive summers of full time classes are required to finish the program.

Local school districts have begun to examine the content of post-graduate degrees and are offering more money to those with more hours in their particular area of expertise. This curriculum emphasizes mathematical content rather than techniques of teaching so is ideal for high school teachers who care about their own level of knowledge and want to pass it along to their students.

Nearly all students receive financial support consisting of a University Graduate Scholarship which provides 90% of the tuition. In the Summer of 2000 each student had to pay approximately $350. This total included the 10% tuition copayment and fees.
