Title: The Roles of Research Mathematicians in Developing K-12 Mathematics Curricula

In this talk I will discuss some of the experiences I had in K -12 mathematics curriculum development both locally (in Palo Alto, California) and at the State level, on the California Mathematics Framework Committee. More generally I will discuss some thoughts on effective roles mathematicians can play in influencing K-12 mathematics education.
