Title: Ten Years of Calculus Reform: Where
We've Been and Where We're Going Based
on a Study Conducted at the National
Science Foundation
Speaker: Susan Ganter, NSF and WPI
Given the widespread implementation of calculus reform
efforts in the
past decade, it is likely that the organization of calculus and the
use of various pedagogical strategies in this course will
be an important issue in the mathematics community for years to come.
It is critical, therefore, that we reflect upon the impact of these
efforts and develop ways in which we can learn from our experiences.
This session will include a presentation of the results from an
evaluation study conducted at the NSF, with a specific focus on the
implications for the future of calculus reform. Interested
individuals are also encouraged to attend a related session to be
presented by the author in the special session on Research in
Undergraduate Mathematics Education.
