Textbook: ''The Arithmetic of Elliptic Curves'' (2nd Edition), by Joseph Silverman.

Course Description:
In this course we will explore elliptic curves, from a geometric point of view (the group law, classical connections to elliptic functions, uniformization via the j-invariant, modular curves parametrizing elliptic curves with N-level structure, etc.) and also from an arithmetic point of view (the group of rational/integral points and the Mordell-Weil theorem, ranks of elliptic curves and the Birch and Swinnterton-Dyer conjecture, torsion points and the Tate module, etc.)

Schedule of classes:
MWF 10:00 - 10:50 pm in TH 304

Office hours of N. Jones: Mondays 2:00 - 2:50 pm and Wednesdays, noon - 12:50 pm, or by appointment
