-

-
Research and development of
new weapons-GREATLY increase funding
(Note: Rep. Davis's support for greatly increased
spending in military hardware is perhaps one of the more unusual and unexpected
of his answers to this questionaire since in general he is not in favor
of greatly increased spending on defense. The fact that Boeing has
recently relocated to its corporate headquarters to the Chicago area from
Seattle may play an important role in Rep. Davis's positions on this matter.)

Legislative
Priorities
| In a total
of seventy-five (75) words or less, please explain what your top two or
three priorities will be if elected. Please explain how you would obtain
any additional funding needed to implement these priorities. |
| A special
focus of mine is on the problems of re-integrating ex-offenders into the
community. With more than two million Americans incarcerated and ever larger
numbers of ex-offenders returning to their communities this is an increasingly
important problem. Ex-offenders who return to the environment that they
inhabited before incarceration, who return without additional education,
skills and training, who return with records which make obtaining employment,
housing, and other basic needs even more difficult, are more likely to
return to anti-social behaviors and more likely to be in conflict with
their community. I am working to find the resources and tools to move ex-offenders
into a positive, healthy and fully engaged and participating role in their
communities, their families and their country. |
