Math 313 - Fall 2009

Textbook: John M. Howie, Real Analysis, Springer Verlag

Exams: There will be three midterm exams (the third of which is optional) and a final exam.

Grade distribution: Homework will count 20% towards your grade, the better two midterm exams 20% each, the final exam 40%.

Homework: There will be weekly homework assignments, usually distributed on Friday and due one week later. Late homework will not be accepted.

Course goals: We will cover essentially chapters 1 - 5 and parts of chapter 7 in the textbook. The course is a rigorous introduction to the concepts from Calculus, (almost) everything will be proved and justified, (almost) nothing is taken for granted.

We will have a final problem session in preparation of the final exam. The problem session is on Monday, December 7, from 4 - 5pm, in SEO 512.
