Textbook: James R. Munkres: Topology, 2nd Edition
Exams: There will be two midterm exams, 2 short quizzes and a final exam.
Grade distribution: The first midterm exam will count 25% and the second 20% towards your final grade. The quizzes
will together count 5% towards your grade. The homework will count 10% towards your grade. The final exam will count 40%.
Homework: There will be weekly homework. We will meet on Wednesdays 5 - 6pm in SEO 512 to discuss the solutions. You should write up solutions to the problems before our meetings on Wednesdays. Three homework sets will be collected and graded.
Syllabus: We will cover most of Part II of the textbook, more precisely, Sections 51 - 60, 67 - 77, 79, 80, 82 - 85. We will furthermore cover the first chapter of James W. Vick's book "Homology theory".
