Suggested Study Hours

Reading time before lecture > 15 min

Reading time after lecture > ½ hour

Thinking time before writing homework > ½ hour

Writing homework > ½ hour

Note: the general rule is that for every hour in class, you should spend 3 hours outside the class.

Estimated study time: 3 (lectures) times (1 ¾ - 3) hours = 5 ¼ - 9 hours per week.

How to use these hours

Before lecture, you should quickly read what is going to be covered.

After each lecture, you should read your notes, the corresponding sections in the textbook, try BB problems and check answers.

Homework should be written clearly, not as short as an answer alone, not as long as a thesis.

If you are not sure how to write, learn from examples (or BB problems) in the book.

Come to my office hours (regular hours or additional) when you have difficulties in doing homework
