Timing

The conference will run Saturday morning through Sunday midday. We suggest participants plan on arriving Friday afternoon or evening and on departing Sunday afternoon.

Staying in Chicago

We will attempt to offer all visiting students a place to stay with a local grad student. You can request to stay with a local grad student on the registration form. We are unable to provide funding for hotel rooms.

If you wish to stay at a hotel, there are several within walking distance, such as a Crowne Plaza Hotel. Our campus is right on the Blue Line stop UIC-Halsted, hence hotels on the Blue Line are also suitable.

Travel

Please consult your local host for directions to and from our campus unless you are staying on your own or driving. Parking is available at UIC; there is a garage near the Math Department at Halsted and Taylor. You may request parking passes from us on the registration form.

The Chicago Transit Authority serves the Greater Chicago area and facilitates getting to and from our campus by subway and bus.

Additionally, Chicago maintains a large fleet of taxis; Uber and Lyft also operate within city limits and to/from both airports.

Specific directions for getting to Chicago are as follows:

By train or bus

UIC is near Chicago Union Station, served by both Amtrak and Megabus, and a Greyhound terminal.

By car

UIC is easily accessible by car from both Interstate 290 and Interstate 90/94.

Parking is available at UIC; there is a garage near the Math Department at Halsted and Taylor. You may request parking passes from us on the registration form.

By air

Two major airports serve Chicago: Chicago Midway (IATA code: MDW) and O'Hare International (IATA code: ORD).

O'Hare is directly on the CTA Blue Line, which runs straight to campus at the UIC-Halsted stop (est. cost: $5.00). Midway is served by the Orange Line, which runs through downtown. We recommend transferring to the Blue Line towards Forest Park at the Harold Washington Library station and disembarking at the UIC-Halsted stop (est. cost: $2.50).
