Symbolic-Numeric Computing in Algebraic Geometry

Abstract:

Solving polynomial systems is one of the most fundamental problems in computational algebraic geometry, because of its wide range of applications in various fields of science and engineering. While "solving" has different meanings to different people, a pure symbolic or pure numerical solution method will not be effective on systems coming from practical applications. In this talk I will address symbolic and numerical aspects of polynomial system solving.
