HOMEWORK

Homework will be collected every day starting on Wednesday, August 26.
You must turn in the problems marked with a *. These will be graded for correctness. You are encouraged to complete the remaining problems and I will gladly look at them and give you feedback. It will benefit you to do as many problems as you can to prepare yourself for the quizzes and exams.
When you do the homework, you should complete the problems as if you were taking an exam. Simply writing the answer or leaving out key steps in the solution will result in little to no credit. Here are some guidelines for receiving full credit:
1. Write the problem statement and make it clear what you are trying to solve.
2. Show all of your work and make it clear how each step follows from the one before it.
3. Your work should be organized so that you and I can read it easily.
4. Equations should have expressions on both sides of the equal sign.
5. Any plots you draw should be neat and easy to read. Computer printouts are greatly encouraged.
6. Use vector notation when appropriate. That means putting arrows above variables that are vectors and using brackets (not parentheses).
7. Use proper notation for partial derivatives.
8. Write differentials (dx, dy, dz, dr, etc.) with your integrals.
Your homework should be neat, stapled, and without fringes. Your instructor reserves the right to refuse to grade your homework if it does not meet these requirements.
Late homework will not be accepted.
