ITL Introduction to Presenting Mathematics on the Web

Mathematicians like to wrote mathematics using T_EX, a mathematical typesetting language developed by Donald Knuth.

Here is a sample of a T_EX document:

The T_EX program produces a dvi (DeVice Independent) file which looks like

texsample.dvi

Actually I converted texsample.dvi to

texsample.pdf

using dvipdfm, developed by Mark A. Wicks.

The reader (student) may or may not have a "pdf viewer" such as Acrobat Reader and so may easily download

texsample.htm

The html file was produced from the T_EX source with TtH, a filter developed by Ian Hutchinson. Mathematics is typeset using tables and uses the symbol fonts available to most browsers.
