Starting in Spring 2015, the Statistics Program at UIC began presenting three awards to its students. These awards went to graduate students who have excelled in one of the following areas: These awards will be given yearly to students who excel in research, consulting, and/or service.

Memorial Scholarship
This fund was created by Stephen Yau in memory of his mother Yeuk-Lam Yau-Leung. An award will be given to assist applied mathematics students each year, with priority given to students working in bioinformatics. May 2020:
Hani Aldirawi
Hani has 7 papers published by peer-reviewed journals or conference proceedings since 2018. He has received numerous awards, including the MSCS Graduate Student Teaching Awards, Statistics Consulting Award in 2018, and Statistics Research Award in 2019. He has accepted an offer of tenure-track assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics of California State University, San Bernardino, starting fall 2020.
