You are strongly encouraged to make use of all of the
resources provided by the Department of Mathematics, Statistics and
Computer Science.
- Instructor's Office hours: Your course instructor
will be holding regular office hours. You can visit her/him and discuss
questions from the course material. You are also advised to discuss in
a timely manner issues that may be preventing you from performing to
the best of your potential on the course.
- Discussion Section: Sections will be meeting one
hour a week and will be discussing problems from the course material.
Quizzes will be given on a regular basis too. You must be registered
for one discusssion section and you are strongly encouraged to attend
regularly.
- Math Learning Center: The Math Learning Center
is located in SEO 430. It is a spacious and comfortable place to study.
Someone will be there during its hours of operation to assist students
with Math 180. You should visit it and get to know different TAs and
peer tutors that can provide you with instant help.
- Group Work: You are encouraged to discuss homework
problems with your fellow students and to work together. Working in
groups makes explanation of approaches and solutions to each other part
of the process and helps you learn. In this setting your goal is to
find solutions to problems and to communicate your work to your group
(and then to the course staff) in a convincing manner. The discussion
sections will concentrate on problems and at times allow for working in
groups.
