Exam 1 - Friday, February 26, 1999.
- Chapter 1 - definitions, classification of equations, direction fields and Euler's method
- Chapter 2 - solution of first order equations: separable, and linear.
- Chapter 3 - tank and mixing applications, Newtonian mechanics, Numerical methods - Euler and Improved Euler's method
- Chapter 4 - 2nd order equations, definitions, theory - Wronskian, fundamental solution set; reduction of order; constructing solutions of constant coefficient, homogeneous eqns - all cases, nonhomogeneous eqns - undetermined coefficients and variation of parameters; systems of eqns - elimination, mixing problems.
- Chapter 5 - vibrations, resonance, numerical methods-Euler's method for systems only.

- Chapter 7 - Laplace Transforms
- Chapter 8 - Series solutions
- 11am Section Only: Chapter 4 - system and tank problems (see also section 7.9)
  - You are required to memorize the transforms in Tables 7.1 and 7.2 and the Laplace transforms of the unit step and Dirac delta functions. However, a short table of other transforms will be included with the exam.
  - Omitted Material
    - Section 7.6 - periodic functions and gamma function
    - 12pm Section Only: Chapter 4 - system and tank problems (see also section 7.9)
